⚠️ Limits Have Been Cut Repeatedly

  • November 2025 (launch): Free tier — 250 requests/day, 10 req/min
  • December 2025: Free tier cut to 20 requests/day (-92%), 5 req/min
  • February 2026: Image generation quota tightened
  • March 2026: Credits system introduced; Pro tier switched to weekly refresh

Check the official Antigravity site for the most current limits — they may have changed again since this was written.

What Counts Against Your Quota?

Counts toward quota

  • Agent task executions (Gemini Flash / Pro)
  • Multi-step agentic workflows
  • Image generation via Nano Banana Pro
  • Long-context file analysis by the agent
  • Each model has its own separate quota pool

Not limited

  • Tab code completions
  • Standard command requests (low complexity)
  • File editing, navigation, search
  • Syntax highlighting and linting
  • Git integrations
  • VS Code extension usage

Note: Google markets completions as unlimited, but heavy users have reported hitting soft limits in practice.

What to Do When You Hit the Limit

1Wait for the Refresh Cycle

Free tier quotas refresh on a 5-hour rolling cycle. If you hit your limit at 2pm, you'll have more capacity by 7pm. This is the zero-cost option.

2Enable Credits (Immediate)

Go to Settings → AI Credit Overages → Always and purchase credits ($0.01/each). Once enabled, the agent continues working automatically after your quota runs out, drawing from your credit balance.

Credits cost $25 for 2,500 or $199 for 20,000. Google has not documented the exact request/token value of one credit.

3Upgrade Your Plan

AI Pro ($20/mo) gives approximately 5× more agent requests and access to more capable models. AI Ultra ($249.99/mo) removes the weekly cap entirely and includes access to Gemini Ultra and experimental models.

4Use Google AI Studio or Vertex AI

For integrations and MCP-based workflows, connecting Antigravity agents to your own Google AI Studio or Vertex AI API key gives you a separate quota governed by your AI Studio account — not Antigravity's built-in limits.

Pro Tier Weekly Cap Warning

In March 2026, the Pro tier switched from a 5-hour to a weekly refresh cycle. Users who hit the weekly cap may experience lockouts of up to 168 hours (7 days). There have also been reports of a zero-usage lockout bug where users are blocked despite not having used their quota. If you encounter unexpected blocks, check the Antigravity community forums or submit a support request.

Limits FAQ

How many agent requests do I get on the free tier?

As of December 2025: approximately 20 per day on Gemini Flash. This was reduced from 250 at launch. The 5-hour refresh cycle means you effectively get ~4 replenishments per day, but the exact per-cycle allotment is not publicly documented.

Why were the limits cut so dramatically?

Google has not given an official explanation. The pattern matches standard SaaS strategies: launch with generous limits to drive adoption, then tighten them before (or alongside) introducing paid tiers. The March 2026 credits system introduction coincided with further limit adjustments.

Does each model have its own quota?

Yes. Gemini Flash, Gemini Pro, Claude, and image generation (Nano Banana Pro) each appear to have separate quota pools. Hitting your Gemini Flash limit doesn't affect your Claude quota, and vice versa.

Can I get unlimited Antigravity with my own API key?

Google AI Studio and Vertex AI keys can be used for MCP-based agent integrations, giving you a quota governed by your own account. However, there is no formally documented "bring your own key" feature for the core IDE agent experience. Check the official Antigravity docs for the latest on this.

What is the Nano Banana Pro quota?

Nano Banana Pro is Google's AI image generation model integrated into Antigravity. Its quota was tightened in February 2026. The exact limits for image generation are separate from the agent request quota and have not been fully documented by Google.
